The leaves are falling, the days are getting shorter, and our eyes and lips are getting darker. You can almost smell the cocoa and feel the ugg boots now can't you?
Don't get left behind on this gorgeous trend. Check out these tips for keeping that deep berry shade fresh all day.
1. Exfoliate your lips. This is important, as crusty lips won't look good in any shade. My favorite exfoliator has a gentle buffing grain and loads of moisture (find it here) In a pinch you can even use your toothbrush to slough off any dry skin.
2. Gloss it up. Before you brush on that perfect shade, give your lips a light layer of lip balm. You can use tinted balm to alter the color of your lipstick or go with a clear coat to keep your hue pure. I adore these Lip Bonbons in Vanilla Milkshake.
3. Apply a color that compliments your skin tone. Fair skin looks fantastic in dark berries. Olive tones look fantastic in plums, and dark skin tones look stunning in purples or reds with a tinge of blue.
4. Make it last. After applying your favorite lipstick, place a single sheet of tissue paper over your lips and sweep a layer of translucent setting powder over top.
